To the UK Government on Visas

If we want small business to export our way out of recession, should there be an easier way for small businesses to get temporary visa’s so that (non-European) regional employees can visit the UK to cross-train?

Dear Frank Dobson,

Our small (25 people) and very fast growing (we are employing 10+ new people each year) Digital Agency business has been working on growing an export business in the UAE (to act as a spring board for the wider region).

We are receiving fantastic help from the UKTI in this regard (via Passport to Export and then Gateway to Global Growth).

We invested in the UAE to setup a local business and employed a local GM. We have started to make sales but the local GM needs more support.

We applied for a UK visa for him (a Pakistani National) to visit the UK for 2-weeks to cross-train.

Despite us using a specialist lawyer to go through the application process the visa was rejected on ‘inappropriate reasons’.

This will seriously jeopardize our ability to grow the UAE as an export market.

My question to the Government:
If we want small business to export our way out of recession, should there be an easier way for small businesses to get temporary visa’s so that (non-European) regional employees can visit the UK to cross-train?
